Dog-Gone Good Friday! (Five for Friday)

MAP Test Mania!
This week started our annual testing here in Missouri called the MAP test. Monday we had our preparation assembly to get the students pumped up and ready. The teachers gathered in lines and formed a tunnel for the kids to run through, the younger grade levels made encouraging signs and cheered for them, and then they played "Are You Smarter Than A Teacher?" The third and fourth graders competed against their teacher to answer questions about good test prep and test taking strategies. They all had a BLAST!

Just Keep Growing, Just Keep Growing!
Our kindergartners here in ELL are growing flowers. Every few days we fill out a "Plant Observation Journal" where they have to write and draw what they see. It has been a great experience for them because at first they struggled to understand what an "observation" is and the importance that the illustration matches their sentences. They have been SO excited to watch these plants grow and change.

Look At The Fishy!
This last weekend I got to spend some great outdoorsy time with this fine man! My boyfriend and I went pond-fishing and had an amazing time (as you can see with that giant smile on his face). I caught a bunch of little fish, while he nailed three biggens. Again, he was thrilled! :-)
Observation
Yesterday I had the opportunity to go visit my new school where I will be teaching my little firsties next year. I shadowed with one of the other first grade teachers  just to see how things run. It got me so much more excited to get started! I now have a better of ideas of the routines around the school and what things I need to start creating and planning.
Book Buying Time!
I recently signed up for the Scholastic Warehouse Sale in my area. SUPER excited to attend this event for the first time. I can never have enough book for my kiddos! I already have around 150-200 at home, but I am ready to get some more!
